Just for fun, I would like to conduct (or perhaps concoct) a deconstruction of the Dove World Outreach Center, led by Rev. Terry Jones. Please understand this is only for comedic purposes, and is not what I or any person I know actually thinks. To begin, the Dove World Outreach Center has a website, but [...]

Sarcastic Look at Dove World Outreach Center

Rev. Terry Jones and Quran Burning is everywhere
September 8, 2010
While it is a political tragedy, I don’t see how it really communicates anything that wasn’t already public knowledge.
Review | Barrera, The Jewish Bible and the Christian Bible
June 22, 2010
This work was one that I liked at times and disliked at times. I enjoyed the first two chapters, because they seem well organized and thought out. Yet, the ending chapters take a more polemical tone. He strikes out at ‘fundamentalists’ and ‘conservatives’, which I don’t really appreciate. More than that, his comments were not [...]
Review of F.M. Cross, From Epic to Canon
June 10, 2010
Cross is a respected scholar, with a very productive career. His writing should not be taken lightly, even when one disagrees with him. He does offer some good arguments for an early fixed text, and early decided canon of the Hebrew Bible, which even conservative evangelicals would probably appreciate.
Earth Day – My Musings
April 22, 2010
So, it’s earth day. I read one guy on facebook’s post that he had all his lights on, had his truck idling in the driveway and was trying to throw away as much as possible. I asked him if he was the earth’s anti-Christ… j/k Personally, I’m doing what I do everyday… I ran my [...]
Tracking Home Energy Use – There’s an App for that
April 18, 2010
If Google has it’s way, there will be an app platform which will allow users to monitor their home’s energy use. This would mean that you could view your energy usage stats in real-time from practically any device. This idea isn’t new. As a Christian who cares about God’s creation (environment) I have looked at [...]
Young Evangelicals More Likely to Link Belief with Action?
April 13, 2010
I think crisis response is important, but since less planning tends to go into these efforts, the effects are more short lived. Taking the proactive, more thought through approach would yield longer lasting results and have more potential impact.
Fox’s Wanderings
March 16, 2010
His recent post about the discoveries in Thessaloniki is a great example of what he does. He includes a link to a press release, and a picture of what he is discussing. Mike includes a discussion of the discovery, and some comments about its significance. I like to check up on his site every few days to see what’s new in the area of archeology.
Climate Science Controversy… cont’d
March 7, 2010
I can’t get over the recent fireworks from the climate controversy. Recently, one of the people responsible for claiming a sea level rise withdrew the claim. There have been several recent retractions, like the assertion about receding glaciers in the Himalayas. I also enjoy seeing the way different news agencies treat the stories. CNN seems [...]
